A brief explanation for my friends who aren't Puerto Rican 🇵🇷 or don't understand Spanish: Recently, a Telegram chat in which our governor and some government officials participated was leaked. The leaks came in two waves, at first only a couple of screenshots were shared, and a few days later the entire 889 pages of pure undistilled debauchery reached the public. Our Governor: - Made sexist and homophobic comments and used slurs, against members of his own party and those who disagreed with him in any way - Mocked the dead in the aftermath of the hurricane - Insinuated that he can and does double cross members of his own party and plays them for fools - Implied to have an army of "trolls" that spreads "fake news" and promotes his agenda - Actively tried to cover up the number of deaths after Maria - Despite appealing to the religious right as a party platform, mocked those of faith - Made fun of those living on the outer islands of the Puerto Rican archipelago (we are actually multiple islands) for not having reliable transportation after he privatized the ferry company

Additionally, the first lady is under investigation for intentionally withholding aid sent after Maria through Unidos Por Puerto Rico in order to personally hand it out and make their party look good. Some help was delayed, some just spoiled, some was abandoned. All government officials stayed in the air conditioned convention center in San Juan after the Hurricane and never saw a day of suffering. While 6,000 people died. And were mocked by the governor.

The governor refuses to resign despite mounting public pressure and protests are ongoing. There's plenty of unprovoked police violence on civilians, as usual, who are being pelted with rubber bullets, tear gas, and pepper spray. This is one of the most scandalous government debacles in modern history. #RickyRENUNCIA #bastaYA
